Personal information we collect from our feeders
You can participate in our global flight tracking network by setting up a receiver and providing its data to us. We call this “feeding data to the site”.
We collect information you provide to us by operating the receiver and feeding data to our site, including your IP address, receiver name, unique identifier, precise receiver location, software information, and the received flight data.
When you feed data to the site, the receiver name and approximate location are displayed publicly on our site and in other illustrations of geographic coverage. You can choose to hide your receiver’s approximate location by enabling the privacy option in the receiver configuration file. Precise receiver location is not made public regardless of the setting.
Multilateration (also called “MLAT”) is a process where the aircraft location is calculated based on the known position of 4 or more receivers. The effective operation of MLAT requires the data you provide be accompanied by, and processed with, the precise geographic location of your receiver.
We receive and process your receiver’s location only to the extent required to derive and verify the accuracy of aircraft positional data, and to display your approximate receiver location as explained above. We endeavor to retain this data for no longer than required to fulfill these purposes.
